The 5 dangers of working from home!
You have probably already got it, the measures have been tightened again. We will all have to believe it: Working from home is here to stay! Thanks to COVID-19 we work en masse at home at the dining room table, on the couch or on the cupboard to still be able to work standing.
From an investigation of Ahrend It has been found that we are enjoying our home working days and planning fun activities, such as walking the dog or doing the laundry, during our working hours. Everything seems to be running rolls except that every now and then we miss our conversation at the coffee machine. Yet there are some problems that we may not realize while we are working at home.
Because you might not think so, but there was always a reason why we were sitting on our office chair against the desk. All those beautiful things such as monitor arms, laptop standards and keyboards were all there so that we got through our working day ergonomically. Without these things, the days of 8 to 9 hours cannot be sustained behind your computer.
Why do we expect that we can sit at the dining room table for 8 to 9 hours without all these things? We would like to talk to you about that in this article. This is about the 5 dangers of working from home!
The homework boggel
You sit with your cup of coffee ready to start the working day again. But before you know it, you are stare at your mail again with a curved back. Secretly you can't do much about this unconscious behavior, because you automatically sit down if your laptop and other work supplies are not adjusted correctly.
An easy trick can be brought more to you by bringing your computer to you, so you automatically sit back more.
The only drawback is that your dining room chair does not move with you and it may therefore be wise to take a good office chair so that you can move back more easily when needed. Your back needs a little more play so that you do not get a stiff back. Want to know what to meet your office chair to sit comfortably? Neck complaints and lower chin alarm!
We have been looking down almost all day thanks to our phone, but by working from home we are also looking down to work on our laptop.
This makes it easier for us to suffer from our neck and so your colleagues can admire the lower chin during the team meeting. Of course we don't want both to have! That is why it is crucial that you take a keyboard and mouse to be able to put your laptop or monitor at the right height. This is easy with a laptop stand or monitor booster. In this way you no longer have to worry about your neck complaints and your colleagues no longer have a chin on their screen.
Budget tip! No budget to buy a laptop stand? You can also put your laptop on some books or an empty box. It is not the most charming solution but the most practical.
Just do the laundry?
We are distracted non-stop! This is not necessarily bad, because a break in time is also important. But if you don't get through your task list because you saw a nice dress online again, it might be time for action!
But how do we ensure that we can focus?
Make sure you position your home workplace in a quiet place. For example in the attic or find somewhere a quiet corner where you can separate. A place with sufficient light because otherwise you can suffer from other things. Check if you have a budget for a soundproof headphone if you can't find a quiet place in the house. This way you still have the opportunity to close yourself out of all the impulses. Also try to leave social media alone, otherwise you will be watching a video again in no time about the cute puppies. Do you want more tips on how to work best at home? Square eyes don't look that beautiful of course
You may already recognize it. After a long home working day you look in the mirror and your eyes are completely red or you have huge headaches. An easy test whether your computer eyes have are the following points:
Do you have during or after work:
- Sticking or burning eyes?
- Tears in your eyes?
- Silent flashes for your eyes?
- Less sharp vision?
Do you suffer from your eyes after work, if you:
- TV watches?
- Is reading?
- Drives in the car?
If you answer one or more of the questions with "yes", then your eyes are burdened too much at the moment.
But what can you do about this?
Make sure you take at least a 15 -minute break after every 2 hours of work! Then do not sit in your place but use it for 15 minutes to relax or dream away from the window. Your eyes will be grateful!
Ensure the right lighting during the home work!
Make sure that daylight does not fall directly on your screen. This tires your eyes too much. Turn the screen so that you do not see reflection of the daylight on your screen. Also view the settings of your screen and possibly lower the brightness so that your eyes get more rest
Taking the same position all the time can never be good?
Sitting still for eight hours in the same position, do you see it in front of you? That is of course not possible! Everything stiffens and in this way physical complaints can of course accumulate. It is of course always good to take small breaks and do something different than working. Like walking to the coffee machine or walking around in the park. This is not only healthy, but also really good for your productivity while working from home. But then you really have to continue working! And then it might be useful to one sitting/standing desk To be purchased, so that you can sometimes stand for 10 to 20 minutes. No longer because that is not healthy either. An electric sitting/standing desk can quickly rise in price, but luckily you can also have one Slinger sitting/standing desk to take. These often save half in price and you make some extra sent movements while you want to stand! Win win!
